Coaching

Triangle Table Tennis offers players a wide range of expert coaches with experience in training table tennis skills, techniques, and match strategies. Triangle’s coaching team provides private and group lessons, as well as camps and clinics. Our coaches are friendly and accessible, and they pride themselves on helping players of all ages and all levels, from beginner to advanced, to have fun while they improve their game. In addition to the coaches listed below, we often host visiting coaches. 

Private lesson schedules vary by coach. Schedules for group lessons, camps, and clinics can be booked online or by calling reception. Contact our Manager on duty to arrange an opportunity to learn from a member of our coaching team.

Michael Levene, United State Regional Coach

Michael is an USATT Regional Coach. He has Bachelors’ degrees in Econometrics and Social Statistics, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Michael founded Smash Table Tennis where he coached from 2015 to 2018. He also coached at the Atlanta Georgia Table Tennis Association from 2007-2008

Yu Di, Senior/Elite Coach

Yu Di began his table tennis career in China, where he earned a position on the Liaoning Province Team. In addition to reaching a USATT rating of over 2500, he has a wealth of competition experience in both China and the United States, including:

  • 2007 & 2008 2nd Place in Boys Team and 3rd Place in Men’s Singles at China Liaoning Province Cadet Table Tennis Championships
  • 2010 2nd in Men’s Doubles in China Liaoning Province Sports Meeting
  • 2010 Team Champion at China National KaiTuo Cup Championship
  • 2010 3rd place in Open Singles at China National KaiTuo Cup Championship
  • 2013 Singles Champion at Butterfly Atlanta Fall Open
  • 2014 2nd Place in Singles at Butterfly Atlanta Winter Open
  • 2014 2nd Place in Friday Open Men’s Singles at Butterfly Cary Cup Championship

Greg Robertshaw, Coach

Gregg is a USATT Certified State Coach and an ITTF Certified Level 1/PTT Coach, as well as a USATT Certified Club Umpire. He has been one of the top athletes in the State since 1993, after previously competing in Poughkeepsie, NY. His experience in Table Tennis stretches over four decades, starting at age 5 when his dad introduced him to the game, and continuing throughout his school years. Gregg won multiple tournaments, both as a junior and adult player in the north east.

Louis Levene, Coach

After regaining interest in the sport in January 2015, Louis went from a standard of 900 to a USATT rating of 1847 in 10 months and is still rapidly improving, with a current playing level of around 2100. Louis can teach the solid starting fundamentals of table tennis to new and beginner players and can work with players of all ages and levels to improve specific skills.

Sean Liu, Coach

Sean lives in the Triangle area for 20+ years. He is a very popular and strong local player. In addition, he speaks both English and Chinese, and has many years of teaching/coaching experience.

Dr. Mike Babuin, United States Regional Coach

Mike is a USATT Certified Regional Coach, and, as a currently certified as an ITTF Level 1/PTT Coach. He currently is also certified as a USATT certified Regional Umpire. Additional qualifications and related table tennis experience for Dr. Mike are found under the Advisory Board description on our website. As an athlete, Mike has won several National and State championship level accolades including:

  • U1700 Sandpaper Racket singles competition (Champion – US Nationals);
  • U1800 Hardbat Racket singles competition (Champion- US Nationals);
  • U1700 Sandpaper Racket singles competition (Champion) – US Open 2014;
  • North Carolina Senior Games Singles Competition (2x Silver Medalist) (2x Bronze Medalist 2018)
  • North Carolina Senior Games Men’s Doubles Competition (4x Gold Medalist)
  • North Carolina Senior Games Mixed Doubles Competition (3x Gold Medalist)
